From Mon­day to Satur­day the Main Altar is ope­ned at 11.50 a.m. and it is clo­sed at 6.00 p.m. On Sun­days and holi­days, the altar carved by Veit Stoss is ope­ned from 2.10 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. On selec­ted reli­gio­us holi­days the­re will be no ope­ning cere­mo­ny, and it rema­ins ope­ned during the litur­gy. It is rela­ted to the pre­sen­ta­tion of indi­vi­du­al sce­nes from the life of Jesus and St. Mary, e.g.  Nati­vi­ty, Resur­rec­tion or the Assump­tion of St. Mary.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

St. Mary’s Basi­li­ca is ope­ned to indi­vi­du­al visi­tors and tourist gro­ups eve­ry day when no Mass is being con­duc­ted. Half of the church is open to touri­sts, inc­lu­ding the pres­by­te­ry and its main altar. Admis­sion to this part of the Basi­li­ca is based on admis­sion tic­kets. The second part of the church with the main entran­ce is limi­ted to per­so­nal pray­er in front of the Eucha­rist exhi­bi­ted in the mon­stran­ce and to con­fes­sion. During the visit, ple­ase keep silen­ce and fol­low the rules set by the owner.
